Halton police recover firearms from Oakville home following standoff

Two people have been jointly charged following a firearms investigation in Oakville.

On Thursday, police were called to a home near Lakeshore Road West and Belvedere Drive around 10:30 a.m. after someone reported seeing a firearm inside the residence.

Upon their arrival, a 42-year-old woman was arrested without incident. Police say a search of the home uncovered two rifles, a stun gun and several paint and pellet guns made to resemble real firearms.

On Friday, HRPS put out a statement saying two people were charged as a result of the investigation and that they are facing several joint weapon offences.

Traci Simoni, an Oakville resident and Hernan Cuello Mazzillo, of no fixed address, have been charged with allegedly possessing two unauthorized firearms as well as an unauthorized weapon.

Simoni and Mazillio were both released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
