Police are investigating after gunshots were fired at an occupied home and parked vehicle on Hamilton Mountain early Tuesday morning.
CHCH News obtained home surveillance video that captures the sound of multiple gunshots around 4:45 a.m. near Rymal Road East and Atessa Drive, just east of Upper James Street. About 15 gunshots can be heard within five seconds.
The sound of screeching tires can also be heard.
Hamilton police say a home and grey SUV parked in the driveway were damaged in what they believe to be a targeted shooting.
From our initial investigation, it appears that the damage from the shooting is targeted towards a vehicle that’s parked in the driveway, as you mentioned, as well as the residence itself was struck a number of times by gun fire,” says Det. Matthew Dugdale with Hamilton police.
Officers say that despite the home being occupied at the time of the shooting, no one was injured.
A stray bullet also struck a neighbouring home.

Authorities say the shooting was targeted and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
Investigators are gathering suspect information and trying to identify a white or light-coloured vehicle that was seen fleeing the area and travelling toward Rymal Road East following the shooting.
Neighbours are being asked to check doorbell or home security cameras between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. for any suspicious activity.
Anyone who was driving in the area with a dash cam around the time of the incident is also asked to contact Hamilton police at 905-546-4883 or shootingresponseteam@hamiltonpolice.ca.
Anonymous tips can be submitted online to Hamilton Crime Stoppers or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
