A disturbing story from the Fort Erie area, as a family is grieving the loss of two dogs after experts suspect they were poisoned. The family believes somebody tossed tainted meat into the dog’s enclosure.
Shasta and Thor were two playful pyrenees mountain dogs who lived in the country near Fort Erie, but they were found lethargic on Wednesday May 18th and were taken to an emergency vet clinic in Thorold.
“The vet stated to me that there was evidence of poison, and that both dogs had no chance of surviving.” Megan Sunners and her family called police after the vet told them their pyrenees mountain dogs were poisoned.
During the day, Thor and Shasta lived in an enclosure behind the family’s house in rural Fort Erie, at night they stayed in the house. The family has had Shasta on that property for 7 years, but adopted Thor last September. The SPCA investigated one noise complaint against the dogs and that was a month before they were killed.
Megan and her family are asking anyone who has any information about who may have done this to her dogs, to call Niagara police immediately.
