The 145th Canadian National Exhibition kicks off in Toronto on Friday with a couple of new attractions.

The prize new addition to “The Ex” this year is this massive “Superwheel” that stands 150 ft. high.

Scooter Clark from North American Midway Entertainment says, “It has 36 climate control buckets, holds six people each, takes 22 trucks to move it and it was just at the Calgary Stampede.”

The ride itself takes about 10 minutes from start to finish and gives you a bird’s eye view of the city.

Another attraction this year will be the Pink Floyd exhibit.

“We brought it here early in the spring and thought it should carry through to the CNE as well. It’s a retrospective on their entire career,” said CNE CEO Darrel Brown,

There are over 350 artifacts in the exhibit from instruments to photographs.

The CNE’s CEO says last year more than 1.5 million people visited The Ex, bringing more than $142 million to the province and 45 per cent of guests were from outside the GTA.

“We obviously want to see that trend continue. Advanced ticket sales are 60 per cent over what they were last year showing there’s strong interest, people are ready to come back.”

With more than a hundred different vendors on site, food is the biggest draw.

General admission to the event is $25 or $75 for a family pass.

The Ex wraps up on September 4th.
