Bail has been granted to a man police call a person of interest in the disappearance of a five-year-old boy and his grandparents in Calgary.
Douglas Garland was released on $750 bail. The charges are unrelated to the disappearance of Nathan O’Brien and his grandparents, Alvin and Kathy Liknes.
Police in Calgary are investigating a dispute between the grandfather and Garland. It involves a patent dispute between the two that sources say led to “bad blood.” A gas company owned by Liknes went bankrupt last month, days before the family went missing.
The three disappeared from their home June 29. Nathan’s mom says she believes this will turn out to be a happy story.
