Pelham man dead after medical emergency in the Niagara Gorge

A Pelham man has died after going into medical distress during a hike in the Niagara Gorge.

Niagara Police responded to the scene near River Rd. around 11:45 a.m. yesterday.

Further investigation found 55-year-old man went into distress while on a hike at the Niagara Glen with two other people.

Multiple Niagara emergency crews took part in locating and removing him from the trail system.

The man was removed from the gorge with a fire department truck and basket.

The man was transported to local hospitals and pronounced dead.

A 73-year-old Pelham woman who was part of the group was also assessed by paramedics.

Investigators say foul play is not suspected.
