A Peel Regional Police officer has been charged in connection to the death of a 41-year-old man.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) launched an inquiry into a collision between a Peel Regional Police cruiser and a motorcycle in the area of Tomken Rd. and Derry Rd. in Mississauga on June 19.

The 41-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Constable Brandon Strain is facing one count of dangerous driving causing death.

Strain is scheduled to appear in a Brampton court on January 9, 2017.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
