Officials in Switzerland say at least 44 people are injured, including four in critical condition, after two passenger trains collided head-on.

The accident happened near the city of Lausanne in the French-speaking region of Switzerland. The train reportedly crashed roughly 100 metres from a rail station. There has been no confirmation of any casualties so far.

The accident comes less than one week after a train derailment killed 80 people in Spain.
