Governor General David Johnston signed the papers at Rideau Hall Friday morning to officially prorogue Parliament.

The throne speech is now scheduled for October 16th when Johnston will outline the government’s policy plans in broad terms.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he’ll present the government’s agenda, while opposition parties will no doubt try to put the senate expenses scandal back in the spotlight. And on that note, Senator Pamela Wallin now says she has paid back more than $100,000 in dubious travel claims. But she still claims to be innocent of any misconduct, and has no plans to resign.
