Police and fire crews were called to 4372 Appleby Line just after 1:00 a.m. after receiving  reports that Trinity Baptist Church had caught fire.

About 40 firefighters from 12 trucks were battling the blaze, Hamilton and Milton crews were trucking in water. More than 12 hours later they were still putting out hot spots.

No one was hurt but the original church building which was built in the 1800s was destroyed.

Officials say the fire started at the back corner of the church. They are still trying to figure out how it started but say it is being considered suspicious. The word ISIS was spray painted on the church in about 3 different places including where the fire started

The original church suffered extensive damage, likely more than half a million dollars worth but crews were able to save the new section.

They have cancelled Sunday service and are looking for a temporary spot until they can get back into the building.
