OSSTF and province to head back to bargaining table

The Ontario Secondary School Teacher’s Federation (OSSTF) has been called back to the bargaining table by the Ministry of Labour’s mediator.
An informal meeting will take place between the province and the OSSTF Sunday evening with formal talks potentially starting on Monday. This will be the first time the two sides have talked since December.
The call comes one day after the Public high school teachers announced a new round of rotating strikes for the coming week. The union says they will revoke the strikes if the government to backs down on increasing the average class size of students from 22 to 28.
The Progressive Conservatives have offered 25 but they are also looking to implement two required online learning courses – which the union also does not want.
CHCH News will be speaking to OSSTF president Harvey Bischof today and will be sharing the interview during our 6:00 p.m. newscast.
