OPP searching for federal offender

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for help in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as a result of his breach of Long Term Supervision Order.

OPP say 53-year-old Derek Powell is described as white, 5’8″, 260 lbs, with brown hair and green eyes.

Police say he is currently on a Long Term Supervision Order after serving a seven year, six month and 15 day sentence for assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats to cause death, two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of assault of a peace officer, mischief in relation to property and four counts of failing to comply with probation order.

Powell is known to frequent the Brantford, Cambridge, Whitby and Oshawa areas.
