Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 3 a.m. Sunday in a residential neighbourhood in Paris, Ont.

Officers determined the suspects were in a dark-coloured SUV and fired multiple shots at a home on Heming Street, hitting the residence and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

Surveillance video from the home captured the terrifying moment the SUV driving down the street fired several shots into the property.

“Our investigation revealed that an unknown individual or individuals attended an address on Heming Street in a dark coloured sports utility vehicle and fired several rounds from a firearm, striking the residence and vehicle which were parked in the driveway, causing damage,” said OPP Const. Matthew Foster.

The bullets went through a “for sale” sign out front, hitting one of the cars and the garage door. Damage is visible with bullet holes in the tail light and windows.

The homeowner, Mr. Singh, who declined to appear on camera, says he and his family — including his mother, his wife, and three children — were all asleep at the time.

They were woken up when police knocked on their door. He says he has no idea why his house was targeted.

“Very, very confused. Very, very bad. I’m not good feeling, no,” said Singh.

Neighbour Christine Facey says she and her husband also woke up to the sound of shots — unsure if they were firecrackers or gunfire.

“We were woken from our sleep with a bang, bang, bang, bang,” said Facey.

Some of those bullets ended up in her doorway.

“I didn’t even know my door got shot. So apparently there’s a bullet that went through there. Scary. Like, you don’t want that happening in a neighbourhood like this. This is a beautiful neighbourhood,” said Facey.

Police say residents have every right to be concerned.

“This is a extremely concerning incident that should alarm residents of the community. However, it is believed to be isolated in nature,” said Const. Foster.

Officers say no one was hurt. The incident is believed to be isolated.

Detectives are asking anyone with relevant information or surveillance footage of the area to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or submit tips on the OPP’s website.

Those wishing to submit information anonymously can do so through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or on their website.
