Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a fatal three-vehicle collision in Brant County that closed a stretch of Highway 24 North Wednesday night.

The crash happened at around 11:10 p.m.

Officers say a vehicle was entering the roadway from a private driveway and attempted to make a left turn, when it was struck by a northbound vehicle.

Investigators say the impact resulted in a third vehicle becoming involved in the collision.

The driver of the vehicle exiting the private driveway was a 71-year-old from Brantford, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives say the drivers of the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries.

The collision prompted the closure of the highway between German School Road and Highway 5. The area has since reopened.
