OPP investigate suspicious overnight fires in Simcoe and Langton
Police are investigating a series of fires that hit three separate unoccupied structures in Norfolk County on Tuesday night.
Emergency crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Fourteenth Street West in Simcoe at around 10:20 p.m.
There they found three unoccupied structures were on fire.
One resident in that community told CHCH News says suspicious activity in their neighbourhood is not common.
“Firetrucks were going by, and police cars,” they said. “Accidents or acts of nature do happen, but if this was suspicious, then it’s rare.”
Around four hours later, just after 2 a.m., emergency crews were sent to a residential fire on 10th Concession Road in Langton.
The residence was unoccupied but reported to be fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
The Office of the Fire Marshal is working with Norfolk County OPP, and says the fires are considered suspicious.
Officers are currently looking for a red or burgundy Ford Crew Cab pickup truck that was observed near the scene of the fire in Langton.
Police made a post on X just before 11 a.m. asking for any information from residents.
