OPP determine garage fire in Simcoe to be non-suspicious

Ontario Provincial Police have determined that a garage fire in Simcoe Thursday is not suspicious.

Emergency crews responded shortly before 2:30 p.m. to the structure fire on Nixon Road.

Officers say no one was injured as the garage was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.

While the cause of the fire remains unclear, police say it is not suspicious.

Nixon Road was closed between Windham Road 12 and Windham Road 13 for several hours, but has since reopened.

Residents in the area are asked to check their surveillance cameras for any video that could help with the police investigation.

Correction: Ontario Provincial Police initially reported that the garage fire in Simcoe was suspicious, which CHCH News published. OPP then issued a correction saying the blaze is not suspicious.
