OPP charge two in connection with fatal Simcoe drug overdose

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people in connection with an ongoing sudden death investigation in Simcoe.

On Sept. 6, 2025 at around 2 p.m., OPP responded to a report of an unresponsive person at a property on Queen Street North.

Officers say the person was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be a drug overdose.

On Sept. 29, 2026, two people were taken into custody and charged in relation to this investigation.

Hannah Brochu, 19, of Oxford County and Thomas Macleod, 22, of Haldimand County, have both been charged with trafficking in a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin).

Brochu is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Dec. 22.

Macleod is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Nov. 10.
