OPP arrest wanted woman in Hamilton following Canada-wide search

Ontario Provincial Police arrested a woman Tuesday in Hamilton, who broke the conditions of her statutory release on Oct. 1, and went unlawfully at large.

Officers arrested 56-year-old Heather Bell, an Indigenous woman, who was known to frequent the Cities of Hamilton, Guelph, Kingston and Peterborough.

Investigators released a country-wide warrant for her arrest earlier Tuesday, before announcing her arrest just before 9 p.m.

Detectives say Bell is serving a sentence of four years, 11 months and eight days for:

  • Three counts of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Failure of comply with orders at large
  • Possession of a weapon while knowingly unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order
