Ontario reports 975 cases of COVID-19 and 12 deaths on Tuesday.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 25,979 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were completed, is 4.2 per cent.

Another 1,002 cases have been marked as resolved.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 10,205 total cases — up 38 from Monday
  • 9,419 resolved cases
  • 356 active cases
  • 279 deaths — up one from Monday
  • 31,249 vaccine doses given

Halton

  • 9,284 total cases — up 30 from Monday
  • 8,878 resolved cases
  • 215 active cases
  • 191 deaths  — up one from Monday
  • 23,934 vaccine doses given

Niagara

  • 8,501 total cases — up 23 from Monday
  • 7,866 resolved cases
  • 266 active cases
  • 369 deaths — up three from Monday
  • 9,525 vaccine doses given

Brant

  • 1,447 total cases — up five from Monday
  • 1,384 resolved cases
  • 51 active cases
  • 12 deaths
  • 6,378 vaccine doses given; 2,485 people fully vaccinated

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,408 total cases — up one from Monday
  • 1,340 resolved cases
  • 24 active cases
  • 39 deaths
  • 4,222 vaccine doses given; 1,427 people fully vaccinated

Six Nations

  • 258 total cases
  • 226 resolved cases
  • 29 active cases
  • three deaths

Another 16,252 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario. In total, 585,707 doses have been given.

There are 247,042 people who have received both required vaccine doses and have been fully vaccinated.

There are 718 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. This is up from the 646 patients reported on Monday, however some hospitals in the province do not update their numbers on weekends.

There are 283 people in intensive care and 186 of them are on ventilators.

The number of cases of variants of concern in the province remained steady.

There are 390 cases of the B.1.1.7 lineage of the virus, first reported in the U.K.

There are nine cases of the B.1.351 strain, first reported in South Africa and one case of the P.1 strain first reported in Brazil.
