Ontario is reporting 463 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and seven more deaths related to the virus.

The data is based on more than 39,092 tests completed on the previous day. It was the highest amount of tests completed in a single day since May.

The province says 40,596 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the last 24-hour period for a total of more than 21.4 million.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says 85.3 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and nearly 79.4 per cent have two doses.

Elliott says 299 people are currently in hospital due to COVID-19. She says of those in hospital, 271 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 28 are fully vaccinated.

There are currently 187 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 130 on ventilators.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least 13 are in an outbreak including Macassa Lodge in Hamilton, R. H. Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
