Ontario reports 13,807 new COVID-19 cases Thursday

Ontario is reporting 13,807 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and eight deaths related to the virus.
Today’s tally has set another record for new daily COVID-19 infections reported in a single day since the pandemic was declared in Ontario.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 965 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 200 patients in intensive care.
The seven-day average of COVID-19-related patients in ICU is 179.
The province says a total of more than 27 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.
Elliott says 90.8 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and 88.1 per cent have two doses.
As of Wednesday, at least 47 of the province’s 626 long-term care homes currently have a COVID-19 outbreak declared at the facility including Shalom Manor Long Term Care Home in Grimsby.
An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
