Ontario is reporting 564 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday and 581 new cases on Sunday.

The data is based on 36,318 tests completed over the last two days.

The province says five more people have died as a result of the virus.

There have been 14,391 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine administered in the last 24-hour period and 21,325 doses given on Sunday.

Health Minister Christine Elliott says a total of more than 20.9 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Elliott says 83.7 per cent of Ontarians aged 12 and older have received one dose and 77.2 per cent have two doses.

There are currently 192 patients in intensive care with COVID-related critical illnesses and 113 on ventilators.

The province says of those in hospital, 248 are unvaccinated individuals, 23 are partially vaccinated and 44 are fully vaccinated.

Of the province’s 626 long-term care homes, at least nine are in an outbreak including Clarion Nursing Home in Stoney Creek, R. H. Lawson Eventide Home in Niagara Falls, and Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington.

An active COVID-19 outbreak indicates that the home has at least one lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 (in resident or staff) and the local public health unit or the home has declared an outbreak.
