One person hospitalized after basement house fire in St. Catharines

Investigators from the St. Catharines fire department and the Office of the Fire Marshal are looking into the cause of a basement fire at a house in St. Catharines.

Shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday fire crews responded to a report of a blaze at 83 Jacobson Ave., with a victim inside. The department says that the fire started in a bedroom.

Crews rescued the victim and the person was transferred to a hospital. Their status is currently unknown.

Two other people were removed from the main floor with minor injuries and refused treatment.
