Olympic update: Canada wins gold in men’s curling, bronze in women’s curling, silver in speed skating

It’s the second last day of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Canada has added another gold, silver and bronze to their medal count.

The men’s curling team has won Canada its fifth gold medal of the Games with a 9-6 win against Great Britain.

Rachel Homan, Tracy Fleury, Emma Miskew and Sarah Wilkes of the Canadian women’s curling team are coming home with a bronze medal after a triumphant win over the United States.

After 10 ends, Canada took the win with a final score of 10-7.

Skating to the podium

Canadian speed skater Ivanie Blondin has won silver in the women’s mass start event.

Blondin also won a silver medal back in 2022 for the same event. The 35-year-old is a two-time mass start world champion.

On Friday, Valérie Maltais added another bronze to her medal collection at this year’s Winter Olympics in Italy.

Maltais won bronze in the women’s 1,500-metre final with a time of one minute 54.70 seconds.

Canada sits in 11th place with five gold medals, six silver and nine bronze. Norway still leads the table with 18 golds and an overall medal count of 40.
