Oakville reacts to McGuinty testimony
One person who doesn’t blame the government or the former premier for the fiasco is Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.
Oakville was staunchly against this power plant from the beginning. The town enacted two bylaws to prevent it from being built. One that limited particulate matter pollution and another that regulated where you could put a power plant.
Earlier in these hearings, we heard that in 2010, TransCanada approached McGuinty and asked him to overturn those bylaws so they could build the plant. Shortly afterwards, the plant was cancelled.
As Oakville mayor Rob Burton told our Lisa Hepfner, if there was any wrongdoing, it was on the part of the Ontario Power Authority.
