Oakville firefighters investigate flames at food processing plant

A food processing plant in Oakville was reported to have caught fire Tuesday night endangering over 50 staff members.

A freelancer told CHCH News emergency crews responded to flames shooting through the roof at around 10 p.m. at a Pinty’s Delicious Foods Inc. on Bristol Circle.

The Oakville fire department confirmed with CHCH News that seven full crew units arrived at the processing plant at 2714 Bristol Castle which caught fire just before 10 p.m.

Over 50 staff members were reported to have taken shelter in Oakville transit buses to avoid both the fire and the rain.

Emergency crews say they were able to get the fire under control just after midnight.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation as the building was reported to have damaged extensively.
