Nymphomaniac

Nymphomaniac Vol. 1 & 2 comes from celebrated and controversial director Lars Von Trier. Known for pushing boundaries while simultaneously capturing visually striking scenes, the Danish filmmaker’s two part narrative about a self-confessed female sex addict has been tantalizing fans and critics since its conception. The sexually explicit drama follows Joe, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, who is recovering from an assault. She discusses her past with her caregiver, Stellen Sarsgard’s Seligman. The pair dissect her past and explore her condition. New comer Stacy Martin stuns as young Joe, while Mia Goth makes her feature film debut as young Joe’s friend P. The films feature an incredible supporting cast including, Uma Thurman, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, and Shia LaBeouf.

Nymphomaniac Vol. 1 & 2 are both being released this weekend in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. While the films will be ticketed separately, there is a marathon viewing option, which offers a unique viewing experience for film goers. At some point a 5.5 hour “director’s cut” will be released with 1.5 hours of additional footage.
