Norfolk County teen charged following Simcoe break-in

A 14-year-old from Norfolk County is facing charges after a break-in at a property in Simcoe.

Provincial police say officers were called around 6:45 p.m. Sunday to a report of a break-in in progress at a building on Pond Street.

Investigators determined a group of at least three youths forced their way inside and caused significant damage before fleeing on foot.

One suspect was located nearby on Victoria Street and taken into custody without incident. Police say efforts to identify the other suspects are ongoing.

The teen is charged with breaking and entering and mischief over $5,000.

The accused cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date
