Norfolk County OPP say officers were very busy over the Victoria Day long weekend.

They answered 293 calls for service between Friday and Monday.

One person was charged with impaired driving, another was issued a three-day licence suspension for drinking and driving.

There were over 40 speeding charges issued under the Highway Traffic Act and one for failure to wear a seatbelt.

“We responded to higher than average calls for service over the course of the Victoria Day long weekend,” said Insp. Rob Scott, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander.

“Even though these are excellent results, drivers still need constant reminding not to drive impaired by alcohol or drugs. There is no safe level of alcohol/drug consumption when getting behind the wheel of a vehicle or vessel.”

Other calls for service included vehicle collisions, animal complaints, traffic complaints and assault.
