No timeline has been given for when a stretch of Dewitt Road in Stoney Creek, Ont. will reopen after a minor rockslide closed the road Sunday.
The one-way road closed Sunday night after rocks, trees and mud fell onto the roadway from the Niagara Escarpment.
No injuries were reported, and an update to the City of Hamilton’s website says existing concrete barriers “prevented significant effects on the right of way.”
The rockfall was also close to a railway corridor, according to a public works report “additional remediation, stabilization or repair work” will continue in collaboration with CP Rail.
Hamilton police told CHCH News that the road would reopen when the rock wall in the area has been stabilized.
The road is closed between Dundee Drive and Ridge Road near Fruitland Road.
