Nine people killed in shooting at San Jose railyard

Investigators are looking for a motive behind Wednesday morning’s massacre at a California rail yard.

An employee at the facility in San Jose opened fire on colleagues, killing eight before taking his own life.

One person was critically injured in the shooting. Officials say they died in hospital.

The shooting took place around 6:30 a.m. at a light rail facility in San Jose next door to the sheriff’s department and across a freeway from the airport.

The facility is a transit control center that stores trains and has a maintenance yard.

Victims ranged in age from 29 to 63 and their jobs included bus and light rail operators, mechanics and assistant superintendent.

The 57-year-old suspect’s ex-wife told The Associated Press he had a bad temper and would tell her he wanted to kill people at work — but she never believed he’d do it.
