Nik Wallenda tells CHCH he’s hopeful Falls walk is a go
High wire artist Nik Wallenda of the famous Flying Wallendas has his fingers crossed he’ll be able to perform a high wire act across Niagara Falls.
He spoke to CHCH News Thursday morning via phone from Branson, Missouri. Wallenda explained why he’s so determined to do this particular stunt.
“The reason why I want to do it more than anything is just the beauty of the falls. It’s just an amazing location to do something like this and there’s a rich history of this art there at the falls.”
Wallenda is currently in Missouri and says he hopes to meet with Niagara Parks Commission officials in two to three weeks.
He has not yet formally asked for permission to attempt the crossing.
New York lawmakers have given Wallenda a one-time exception to do it sometime before August 30, 2012.
