The District School Board of Niagara is recommending closing two St. Catharines high schools, West Park and Kernahan Park, next fall.

They are also planning to keep Thorold’s only secondary school open and are calling for new boundary lines that could boost enrolment there & re-jigging the extended French program.

Staff say the changes would save the DSBN over $2 million a year.

The board trustees have 60 days to make a decision.

Trustees also received a report Tuesday summarizing the work of an Accommodations Review Committee, looking at five St. Catharines & Thorold high schools in recent months.

Their report presents 2 scenarios. In one, Thorold Secondary & Kernahan Park would close. In the other, Kernahan & West Park.
