Niagara police investigate suspicious barn fire in Fort Erie

Niagara police are investigating a suspicious barn fire in Fort Erie yesterday morning.

It happened in the area of Bertie St. and Ridgemount Rd. around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Emergency crews arrived at a barn fully engulfed by fire, but were able to extinguish it.

Officers said the barn had been unused for several years and was in poor condition. It also had no active gas or electric utilities, which is why the fire is considered suspicious.

The cost of the damage has not yet been determined.
