Niagara police investigate jewelry store thefts in Niagara region
Niagara police are investigating the identity of a man suspected of two jewelry thefts in the Niagara region this week.
Officers say one suspect was involved in a series of thefts in St. Catharines and Welland Wednesday afternoon.
Police say a man entered Kavar Jewellers in Pen Centre in St. Catharines at around 5:40 p.m. before asking to see some jewelry. When the man was given access to merchandise, the suddenly ran from the store, allegedly stealing the jewelry.
Detectives say half an hour later the man had entered Tianna’s Jewelry in Seaway Mall in Welland, and asked the store to see some merchandise. When the man was given access to jewelry, he ran from the store allegedly stealing the jewelry.
Police are looking for a clean shaven man, between 18 and 25 years old who was last seen with long, black curly hair.
Investigators believe the thefts in Niagara were committed by the same suspect in a similar theft at a jewelry store Tuesday in Stratford, Ont.
