Arrests made in 2023 St. Catharines Ssonix industrial fire
Three arrests have been made in relation to a death from a January 2023 explosion at an industrial waste company in St. Catharines.
On Jan. 17 of last year Niagara police were called to Ssonix Products at 20 Keefer Rd for a fire from an explosion.
A St. Catharines man in his 30s died at an out-of-region hospital from critical injuries suffered in the blast.
Ssonix Products reportedly treats both hazardous and non-hazardous chemical waste.

Niagara police detectives recently announced arrests related to the case.
The investigation involved the OPP, the St. Catharines Fire Department, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Ministry of Environment.
Steve Baker, 60, and Sharon Baker, 61, both of Petersburg, Ont. and Tyler Baker, 38, of Scotland, Ont. were arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing death and arson by negligence.
Police did not confirm if or how the three are related.
The accused are expected to appear in court on Jan. 3 of next year at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
