A Welland man is facing a first degree murder charge after Niagara police found a woman’s body at a home in a Welland neighbourhood Thursday afternoon.
Officers say they responded to a call to assist an ambulance at a home in the area of Prince Charles Drive and Thorold Road at around 1:55 p.m.
Investigators say they found a woman’s body in the home, and a man who was also found in the home was taken into custody.
The homicide unit then took over the investigation.
36-year-old Christopher Bobko of Welland was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
Bobko remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Friday.
Detectives believe that this was an isolated incident and there is no evidence of any ongoing risk to public safety.
