Niagara police have charged two people after a crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan in Pelham in April killed a Port Colborne man.

Officers say the crash happened at around 9:10 p.m. on April 27, on Highway 20, west of Maple Street.

Investigators say a blue, 2008 Town and Country minivan was travelling westbound along the highway, and attempted to turn left into a driveway.

Two motorcycles, a red 2003 Honda and a black 2009 Kawasaki, were travelling eastbound when the red motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the minivan.

As a result of the hit, the rider of the black motorcycle lost control and slid on the ground.

The driver of the red motorcycle, a 30-year-old man from Port Colborne, died at the scene, while the 27-year-old West Lincoln woman who rode the black motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

A 19-year-old man from Port Colborne and a 27-year-old woman from West Lincoln remained at the scene following the hit.

Police have charged the man with careless driving causing death, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Officers charged the woman with driving a motor vehicle with an improper license, and for owning and operating a motor vehicle on a highway with no insurance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009259.
