Niagara Falls man stabbed during argument

Two men in Niagara Falls used a knife to resolve their argument Friday, sending one to hospital with several stab wounds.

The argument took place shortly after 5 p.m. last Friday at a residence in the area of Ker St. and Drummond Rd.

Officers with Niagara Regional Police were called to the scene when a verbal disagreement turned physical and one of the men drew a knife.

One man received multiple stab wounds as a result of the disagreement and was taken to hospital by paramedics in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Police say the two men are known to each other and there is no threat to the public.

Burke Pembleton, 39, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with probation.

John Hicks, 48, of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Hicks was held for a bail hearing that took place on Saturday at the courthouse in Hamilton. He was again taken into custody and is scheduled to re-appear in bail court today at the courthouse in St. Catharines.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigative Branch have taken over control of the investigation with the assistance of the Forensic Services Unit.
