New Year’s celebration turns tragic as fire engulfs Swiss ski bar

A devastating fire ripped through a crowded bar at a Swiss ski resort, killing at least 40 people and injuring more than 100 others during New Year’s celebrations. Around 50 patients have been, or will be, transferred to hospitals in other European countries for specialist treatment. Officials now say the fire is believed to have been caused by sparklers in a champagne bottle that came too close to the ceiling.
