New stadium rotates 90 degrees

According to a new City of Hamilton report, Ivor Wynne Stadium will be rebuilt with the playing field running north-south, instead of the present east-west layout.

The rebuilt stadium will seat 22,500 spectators.

The new orientation is intended to keep direct sunlight out of the eyes of the players.

The new configuration will also reduce blinding sun for fans.

The report also points out that the new stadium layout will change traffic patterns on surrounding streets and change parking lots.
