The number of supervised injection sites in the City of Hamilton could be on the rise.

There is already a safe injection site in Hamilton.

The Urban Core Community Health Centre has been running a temporary site downtown on Rebecca St.

That group has plans to apply for a permanent site in the lower city.

Between January and October 2017, there were 75 opioid deaths in Hamilton, putting the city’s opioid death rate at almost 80 per cent higher than the provincial average.
