Motorcyclist dead, another in hospital after crash in Waterford, Ont.

A 23-year-old motorcyclist has died and another person is in hospital following a crash in Waterford, Ont., early Friday morning.

Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a collision on Thompson Road East shortly before 7 a.m. involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Paramedics brought the driver of the SUV to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, the motorcyclist from Oxford County died at the scene.

Thompson Road East was closed between Duncombe and Cockshutt roads, but has since reopened.

Detectives are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

Norfolk County officials warn drivers planning to attend the Friday the 13th event held in Port Dover to be aware of heavy traffic in the area and to drive carefully.

Anyone with information or video of the collision is asked to contact police.
