Metrolinx says Lakeshore West GO trains can’t stop at the St. Catharines or Niagara Falls stations “until further notice” after a CN Rail train derailment earlier this week.
The transit agency says GO train service remains suspended between Niagara Falls and Confederation stations.
However, Route 12 GO buses are running between the Niagara Falls and Burlington GO stations.
“Although we are adding more available Route 12 GO buses, it is strongly encouraged that non-essential travel is reconsidered, as bus service is limited and cannot replace the capacity of trains,” Metrolinx spokesperson Lyndsay Miller writes in a statement Wednesday.

Riders can visit GO Transit’s website or sign up for On The GO alerts to receive updated service information.
The service disruption comes after 13 CN Rail train cars derailed east of Glendale Avenue near Keele Street in St. Catharines on Monday.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.
CN said polyethylene, which is used in the manufacturing of household plastics, spilled from one of the railcars, but there were no reports of fires and there was no threat to public safety.
The company said it’s investigating the cause of the derailment and the rail crossings that were initially affected were cleared for vehicle traffic on Monday.
