Moderna says its COVID-19 vaccine works in kids as young as 12

Moderna says its vaccine works in children as young as 12.
The vaccine is being tested for its effectiveness in adolescents. More than 3,700 children between the ages of 12 and 17 were studied.
Moderna says blood tests showed its vaccine produced an immune response equal to earlier findings in adults.
None of the vaccinated children got sick with COVID-19 two weeks after their second dose, while four children who received the placebo tested positive.
The company says the results are “consistent with a vaccine efficacy of 100 per cent.”
Moderna plans to ask the FDA to authorize its vaccine for 12 year olds and teens in early June.
It’s already authorized for people age 18 and older.
Only the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been approved in Canada and the U.S. for use in people 12 and up.
