Ontario is expanding its welding training centre in Milton, with facility upgrades that will help train more than 5,700 additional workers for “good-paying, in-demand jobs” over the next five years.
This is supported by an investment of $1,461,814 through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Capital Stream.
“Ontario is building the infrastructure our province depends on, and we need to strengthen our world-class workforce to deliver on that progress,” Labour Minister David Piccini says.
Supported by funding from the SDF Capital Stream, CWB Group transformed 12,000 square feet of its headquarters into a modern training hub featuring a 15-booth welding shop, classrooms and electric vehicle training space.

The facility will provide both hands-on and theoretical instruction in welding, safety and emerging technologies including virtual and augmented reality.
“Hands-on learning opportunities are essential for strengthening Milton’s skilled and fast-growing workforce. This new Centre of Innovation will give local employers access to even more highly skilled local talent,” Milton Mayor Gord Krantz says.
Ontario has invested $129.4 million through the SDF Capital Stream to expand and modernize training facilities across the province.
