Medical marijuana changes

A farm north of Toronto has become one of the first to be approved by Health Canada to commercially produce and distribute medical marijuana.

Starting April 1st, Ottawa’s medical medical access program will allow users to buy their cannabis from a list of approved suppliers.

Before these changes, people had to get the medication through Ottawa’s one approved supplier, grow their own plants, or have someone be their personal grower.

Mark Gobuty owns the Peace Naturals Project in Clearview Township and says, “I think the industry will be recognized as a global leader in medicinal canabis.”

In Canada, over 37,000 people are authorized to have medical marijuana.
