Mayor’s Task Force report: 80 per cent of Hamiltonians don’t trust City

A new report in Hamilton has revealed that 80 per cent of people surveyed don’t trust the City.
The Mayor’s Task Force on Transparency, Access, and Accountability showed that the majority of respondents gave the city a negative rating in the trust department.
Around 300 Hamiltonians who participated in the survey reported that they want more information and transparency on spending, housing and homelessness, construction and public safety.
Recommendations were to have more responsive leadership, spend tax dollars more wisely and ensure better value for money.
Residents are also looking for improved cleanliness, safety and follow-up on complaints related to the overall condition of Hamilton.
The task force says it took about 14 months to gather all of the research in the report.
The reports recommends that the City consider making a commitment to come back with a plan of action and response.
