One of three suspects wanted in connection with a chaotic shootout in Hamilton’s east end has been arrested in British Columbia.

Hamilton police say two men were involved in a gunfight with the driver of a Nissan vehicle shortly before 5 p.m. on May 13 in an alleyway near Barton Street East and Kinrade Avenue.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as 25-year-old Malcolm Davis of Hamilton.

Investigators had said Davis struck two other vehicles as he tried to flee the scene. He then crashed the vehicle near Gibson Avenue and ran away.

Following multiple reports of shots fired, police rushed to the scene and quickly confirmed that a shooting had taken place. Investigators had said bullets were found in buildings, vehicles, garages and on roads.

Officers also found the abandoned Nissan that day.

Hamilton police later received information that Davis fled to Western Canada and was living in Saanich, B.C. on Vancouver Island.

The Saanich Police Department told Hamilton police on Aug. 13 that Davis had been arrested.

In addition to this shooting, the 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of Randy Peardon on June 15 and an armed robbery in a downtown Hamilton apartment on May 30.
