Man sentenced to life in prison for 2021 murder of Georgetown couple

A Mississauga man has been sentenced to life in prison in the murder of two Georgetown residents in early 2021.
Honourable Justice C. Conlan delivered the decision in a Milton courthouse Friday, saying Harrison Brown will also not be eligible for parole for 25 years.
Brown, who was 27 at the time, was arrested in March 2021 and charged with arson and two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Krystyna and Andrzej Rerak.
Halton police say the couple was found dead in their home on Hidden Lake Trail in Halton Hills on Feb. 17, 2021 following an explosion and fire.

Investigators have said Brown had a business relationship with one of the victims.
Brown entered a guilty plea for first-degree murder in the death of Krystyna and second-degree murder in the death of Andrzej.
“Although the tragic loss of Krystyna and Andrzej Rerak will continue to be felt by their family and throughout our community, the Halton Regional Police Service hopes this outcome will bring some measure of healing,” the force said in a statement Monday.
